Our 760,000 square foot state-of-the-art Distribution Center (DC) in Savannah is shaping up! Here’s a snapshot
An esteemed team from the major retailer, exploring Komar’s Star Garment manufacturing facilities in Sri Lanka with Charlie Komar, Komar President and CEO, embarked on a memorable visit. This trip not only offered a firsthand look at the high-quality, ecofriendly manufacturing processes but also paved the way for a pivotal distribution partnership. The major retailer is now urging its suppliers to join forces with Komar Distribution Services to elevate supply chain, distribution, and inventory management to new heights.
Our numbers may seem modest globally, but our results are mighty
The Savannah Harbor Expansion Project (SHEP) is complete, allowing for larger vessels to access the port. This project enhances the port’s capacity to handle the new generation of mega-ships efficiently. Over 300 container ships will launch in 2023, many are mega class.
The port continues to expand its capacity at the berths and in the yard by adding new ship-to-shore cranes, extending its docks, and improving its facilities in Savannah at inland rail locations in order to accommodate growth. Its reputation for quick truck turn times continues with trucker turn times averaging less than 60 minutes.
Savannah’s strategic location is ideal for reaching major markets and customers in the Southeast and beyond and features numerous nearby fulfillment centers for direct to consumer (DTC).
Burlington Coat DC (I Million square feet) and Hyundai Mega EV Manufacturing facility (13 million Square Feet) will be operational by 2024/25. Rivian EV vehicle manufacturer announced 5 billion dollar manufacturing expansion in Georgia.
Led by Bill Aldridge, the Allport Cargo Services team has shown unwavering efficiency and dedication, ensuring timely factory bookings at various origins. Their adept use of their integrated Infor/Nexus TMS solution, covering a range of tasks from ocean bookings to yard management, has been invaluable.
In the current high-interest environment, our customers are reaping the advantages:
Consolidate multiple U.S. imports into one entry using FTZ, thereby reducing MPF costs for numerous smaller shipments.
Store goods in the FTZ and defer duty payments. This offers better cash flow, as duties are paid only when goods are withdrawn for U.S. consumption.
Thank you for journeying with us this fall. Winter promises more excitement and progress!
Keep an eye out for our next update.
Warmly,
The Komar Distribution Services Team
